Summary
Angelo Rivero Santos has 20 years of teaching and research experience in higher education as well as in
negotiation, lobbying, advocacy and diplomatic practice. In the Fall of 2014 he returned from his seven-year
stint in diplomatic practice to the Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) at the Edmund A. Walsh School
of Foreign Service at Georgetown University where he served as Interim Director for the AY 2022-23.
He is Teaching Professor and Director of Academic Affairs in CLAS, including the M.A. in Latin American Studies,
responsibilities he also held between 2003 and 2006 before leaving for diplomatic practice. Since his return,
he teaches graduate seminars on International Relations and Western Hemispheric Affairs, Political Economy of
Development, Latin American States and Societies, and a seminar on ‘Venezuela and the Caribbean.’ In the Spring
semesters he offers an undergraduate seminar (INAF/LASP 3490-01) on Global Perspectives on International Relations.
For the past nine years he has served in the University’s Task Force for undocumented students and since the Fall of 2023
he serves in the SFS School Council.
